Some locations can be very difficult with the legal requirements of the country for non-residents to wed, so there are many things to be considered when choosing your Destination Wedding location. 

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Does the location offer the type of experience you have dreamed about?  Every island is different and offers something unique - beyond just sun, sea and sand - find out all your ceremony options in advance. 
2. What can local service providers offer you?  So you want to bring everything or can the island and resort help you achieve your dream wedding? 
3. How does it rank in cost, flexibility and travel time for your guests?  Choose destinations that are easily accessible and offer direct air service, a variety of accommodations near your chosen wedding setting to suit all styles and budgets of guests who will be joining you. 
4. Avoid surprises- destination bound brides often go to their destination sight- unseen.  Ask for recent photos. 
5. Think unique- are their historic locations with meaningful significance, architecture that makes for dramatic wedding backdrop, hidden gardens that offer magical settings or villas private and spacious enough to handle your intimate group?  Do the same for entertainers, cruise, favors and traditions! 
6. RELAX- but still get everything in writing.  Many destinations work on "island-time" which is charming but can become frustrating to a busy bride-to-be with many plans on her plate.  Be sure to everything in writing and double confirm things before you get there.
